Example Game
Now that you know all the core rules, let's walk through the first few turns of a hypothetical game to see everything in action.
The Opening
Player 1 picks the Men of Altaria as their faction, and will duel against Player 2 who picked the Fey deck.
Both players shuffle their Main Decks and draw 5 cards. Neither player mulligans (they're happy with their hands). Player 1 won the Jan-Ken-Pon and chooses to go first.
Turn 1 (Player 1)
- Player 1 chooses the Campaign Event (the only sensible option on Turn 1).
- They conquer their middle creature zone (zone 3); a central location with good reach.
- No creatures are on the field yet, so no actions to take. So they go to their Deployment Phase.
- They summon their Fearless Sentinel to their newly conquered zone, orienting it face up.
- The creature has Will of 1, so it collects 1 mana counter.
- They also sets an artifact face-down on one of their artifact zones (always active, no conquering needed). Their opponent has no idea what it is - they will have to try their best to play around it.
- To end their turn, they draw 1 card. They now have 4 cards in hand for next turn.
Turn 1 (Player 2)
- Player 2 picks Campaign and conquers the left-most zone of the battlefield (zone 1) - they have a plan.
- They summon Savage Hyena, carefully choosing orienting it defensively, and sets two artifacts face-down. They might be some of the powerful Scrolls the Fey have.
- They draw a card to end their turn, and now 3 cards in hand for next turn.
Following Turns
Next, will Player 1 pick Campaign or Battle? Will they try to Strike, or strengthen their board? And if they attack with Fearless Sentinel, will Player 2 block with their Savage Hyena? But what will those face-down artifacts do? The possibilities are endless, and the game has just getting started!
