Face-Down

Face-down refers to cards that have their face hidden (i.e. facing down) on the Battlefield; in opposition to Face-Up cards that are public.

Face-down cards on the field can eventually be flipped face-up (under certain circumstances, depending on the card's type).

The concept of Face-Up and Face-Down cards is very similar to the same mechanic on Yu-Gi-Oh!.
