Flip
Flip means turning a face-down card on the battlefield face up, thereby summoning it.
This is the order of operations to follow:
- reveal the card to both players
- choose to activate Shadowwalker, and resolve it before continuing
- chose the desired orientation
- physically flip the card and put it back on its zone on the chosen orientation
- activate any "When flipped" effects
- collect Mana Counters on the card if it has any Knowledge
- activated any "When summoned" effects
Different card types have different flipping requirements:
- Monuments can never be face-down, and thus can never be flipped.
- Both artifacts and creatures must be flipped when they are targeted (either by attacks or effects).
- Artifacts can be proactively flipped at instant speed, in fact, even as part of activating one of its effects.
- Creatures can only be flipped when targeted by an effect or attack.
