Active

Active refers to a Zone on the Battlefield that has been activated using a Summoning Token.

Most zones on the battlefield (except for the 3 central artifact zones of each player) start the game inactive. Players must take the Campaign Event in order to acquire and use Summoning Tokens to activate the rest of their board.

When a zone is active, it means that its owner can Summon or Set cards onto it, or that cards can move to it.

Typically cards can never exist on inactive zones, except due the use of Explorer cards. An Explorer card must be summoned on an active zone but can then move to any inactive zone. Later, it can even move again and switch places with another card (without Explorer), leaving it in an inactive zone.

Zones can also be activated by using the Activate action of a card.
